Landscape painting
Landscape painting (sansuiga) is a type of Japanese painting that depicts natural landscapes. It mainly portrays landscapes such as mountains, rivers, waterfalls, clouds, trees, and rocks using brushes, ink, and watercolors. Sometimes people or animals are also included in the paintings. Landscape painting is a cultural tradition that originated in China and became popular in Japan during the Heian period. In the early modern period, many artists developed their own styles, leading to its continued popularity to this day. Landscape painting not only expresses the Japanese view of nature but also embodies aesthetic sensibility and philosophical depth.
